Scuba Diving Holidays To Mauritius

The Indian Ocean is well known for its awesome dive sites, with particular favourites being found on the North East coast of South Africa, the Maldives and the stunning islands of the Seychelles. Diving holidays to Mauritius are often overlooked, yet Mauritius is a diver’s paradise and has a number of dive sites which are well worth a dip for both beginners and advanced divers alike.

All of the Beachcomber Hotels either have dive centres on site, or if staying at the Dinarobin, at the Paradis right next door! Therefore all you have to do is wander down after breakfast in one of the stunning restaurants, to collect your kit ready for your mornings dive. Why not relax on the beach or perhaps try your hand at sailing or water skiing, before venturing out on your afternoons dive! The conditions are excellent all year round, with water temperatures between 20 and 28 degrees centigrade (5 mill in winter, 3 mill in summer). Summer air temperatures rise between November and February, but the inter seasons are also excellent with air temperature rarely dropping below 23 degrees.

The Shandrani Hotel is the only five star all inclusive which really is all inclusive! Yes, not only is all your food and drink included, but so are your dives! The hotel offers a great location from which to explore the 200+ shipwrecks lying on the island’s seabed! As the only National Geographic PADI-Dive centre in the Indian Ocean, the Shandrani Hotel offers all dives free for qualified divers. You can explore wrecks off the southern coast, or the stunning shoals of tropical fish on the extensive coral reefs.

If you are not an experienced diver, the Shandrani also offers instruction, with affiliations to CMAS, PADI, National Geographic and MSDA.

The west coast of Mauritius is a region with a variety of interesting dive spots. Average visibility: 20 to 25 meters. There is no typical 'diving season'. Beautiful conditions exist all year round but the visibility can, of course, be affected by waves, plankton, tides or rain.

A unique experience is the sight of dolphins in the southwest! All year, in the Le Morne Region where the Paradis and Dinarobin Hotels and resorts are located, one can admire these fascinating creatures in their natural environment.

Not to miss: the famous PASSE ST.JACQUES-dive in Le Morne: Whitefinsharks, Grey reefsharks, Bullsharks, Eaglerays and Stingrays

Mauritius is not only on land but also under water, a real garden of Eden:- Clear turquoise seas, an abundance of live coral reefs and beautiful tropical fish.

Children’s diving holidays to Mauritius at a Beachcomber Hotel start with the Bubble Maker programme for children as young as 10 years old. Alternatively snorkeling and glass bottom boat trips are also popular.

Non diving partners will be happy about all the other activities and excursion possibilities in Mauritius. The Paradis and Dinarobin share a superb 18 hole golf course, plus an array of other land and water sports, including tennis, waterskiing, sailing and a wonderful Clarins Spa at Dinarobin.

Sea Kayaking During Your Mauritius Vacation

As Mauritius is an island, nearly everything which involves its ocean is very popular amongst residents and visitors alike.  One way that you can get the most enjoyment from the Indian Ocean is by trying the sport of sea-kayaking.

If you decide to select a sea-kayaking package for your vacation, two of the most important points to keep in mind is that the sea-kayaking is limited to visitors over the age of twelve, and that the specific locations range in degree of difficulty.  For most adults who are in good health, there will probably not be any viable problems; all you need to do is choose the package which best corresponds with your abilities.

It is a good idea for you to either have or acquire a bit of knowledge about the sport of sea-kayaking before you actually try it for yourself, so you will have a better view in advance as to what you can expect, as well as being prepared for any possible difficulties which might occur.  You can decide between testing your courage and abilities or choosing a more relaxing, calm ride, depending on which you feel is the most appropriate for you.

There are many ways of gaining a deeper appreciation of Mauritius, but if excitement and adventure are high on your list of priorities, going on a sea-kayaking excursion will more than meet your expectations.  After all, you will surely agree that getting the most from your Mauritius vacation should include some degree of exploration of this lovely island's waterways and the vast ocean which surrounds it!

There are sea-kayaking packages available around the coastal locations of Mauritius.  Their trips range from narrow waterways to shallow lagoons to the much more difficult open sea routes.  Logically, inner waterways are easier and safer, whereas kayaking directly out into the Indian Ocean will present more of a challenge and is quite appropriate for visitors who have a great thirst for daring and adventure.

When you take part in kayaking, it will give you the opportunity to view much natural beauty.  Whether it includes the fine greenery of the lagoons, or the magnificent open waters of the Indian Ocean, it is unlikely that you will ever see such splendor of nature anywhere else.

There are many fine hotels in close proximity to the sea-kayaking locations, so that you will not need to waste any time in travelling to or from the excursion's chosen meeting spots. The packages vary between full day and half day excursions.  In addition, your sea-kayaking adventure will include a nice lunch.

Sea-kayaking will surely be the experience of a lifetime! Regardless of your degree of expertise, each available package will offer you the amazing opportunity to take part in an exhiliarating sport and see the glorious sights that can be found nowhere but Mauritius.  Whether you choose one of the breezy, calmer routes, or decide to venture out into the deep ocean waters, you are assured that you will have one of the greatest times of your life!

Mountain Biking On Your Mauritius Vacation

There is a reason why so many people love mountain biking it is a very enjoyable sport! If you do not already know why it can play an important part in your Mauritius vacation, it is not a secret that Mauritius has some of the most beautiful mountain areas to be found anywhere in the world.  When you decide to fit time in your vacation for mountain biking, you will have some of the most healthy exercise available to you, as well as seeing these magnificent mountains for both your viewing and photographic pleasure.

When you decide to try mountain biking on Mauritius, you will find that you have a number of options so that you can tailor your biking trip to your own preferences.  These options range in degree of difficulty, so that each person can ride the track which is the most comfortable and safe for his or her own personal needs; tracks which wind through the mountains as well as those which will give you a spectacular view of the ocean;  and tracks where you can see wild animals, mills, and reservoirs.

Each of the five organized mountain bike excursions consists of a day-long trip that will be absolutely unforgettable.  There is no limit to the gorgeous scenery you will see during your biking excursion, so be sure you remember to take along a camera and a supply of film so that you can capture these views forever.  If you have a compact-sized digital camera, that will be an added convenience.

As these organized mountain biking excursions are located in the north, south, southwest, and central parts of Mauritius, these factors account for the differences in both terrain and sightseeing.  If your preference is to be able to view the vast, beautiful beaches of Mauritius, the northernmost excursions will suit you the most.

The rocky cliffs which are the most prominent in the southern areas may prove to be more to your liking.  The central portion of Mauritis will provide the easiest mountain biking, although it is the only organized excursion which requires all participants to be at least twelve years of age, whereas the other excursions allow children from age ten and up to participate.

A vacation is intended to be as jam-packed with fun as possible; and a mountain biking excursion is a certain way to make that true! Whichever specific excursion suits you the best, and regardless of whether or not you have any experience with biking, you are sure to find the one that will help you to get the most enjoyment from Mauritius's great outdoors.

If it is fun you want, fun is what you will have in mountain biking; and you will also have the added bonus of it being one of the healthiest forms of exercise that exists.  After you have experienced for yourself exactly how much fun mountain biking is on your Mauritius vacation, you may very well decide to take this new interest home with you.
